PUBLIC SAFETY DIVER TRAINING |
Public Safety Dive Teams face some of the most difficult and demanding scenarios of any rescue group. Typically diving in low-visibility or even black-out conditions, under ice, in contaminated waters, racing to save a life or methodically searching the bottom for evidence. This is not recreational diving, nor is recreational dive training adequate to answer the demands of these underwater activities. |
| Ocean Rescue Systems has formulated diver training programs with the special requirements of the Public Safety Diver in mind. Some of the listed courses have equipment and prior training prerequisites. Please contact us for details. | |
| Ice Diving for Public Safety Divers- A 3-day training program which includes at least 6 dives under ice. Covered activities include search and mapping, rescue and self-rescue, and emergency procedures. Training for non-diving line tenders may be conducted simultaneously with the diver training. | |
| Search and Recovery for Public Safety Divers- Three days of challenging diving activities and theory, emphasizing way-finding in blackout conditions, choosing and establishing the most appropriate search plan and pattern, 'lost object' search and the basics of salvage. An emphasis will be placed on dive site organization and dive support requirements. A minimum of six (6) dives will be completed. Training for non-diving line tenders may be conducted simultaneously with the diver training. | |
| Rescue Diver- A 3 1/2 day course of training in skill development and techniques to handle emergencies underwater and on the surface. We will also cover field administration of oxygen and on-site medical treatment. Note: This is a physically demanding course. | |
| Emergency Care for Diving Injuries- An Ocean Rescue Systems exclusive, developed and taught by us and certified by the National Association of Underwater Instructors (as are all our diving courses). This is a non-diving course suitable for anyone who may be on the scene of a diving accident. Perfect for tenders and other diver support personnel. | |
| Assistant Instructor, Divemaster, and Instructor training are also available. See Calendar of Events . | |
